1. Welfare standards
- Parrots must be legally owned, captive-bred, and weaned unless listing clearly states specialized care requirements.
- Wild-caught or endangered species protected by CITES and Lacey Act regulations are prohibited.
- Sellers must provide accurate temperament, health status, and care expectations.
2. Verification requirements
- Government-issued ID and current address.
- USDA or local breeder/rescue licence where applicable.
- Recent veterinary documentation for parrots listed for sale or adoption.
3. Moderation workflow
- Automated screening for prohibited keywords, duplicate media, and suspicious activity.
- Human review within 24 hours for new sellers and flagged updates.
- Listings may require edits or be rejected with guidance. Repeat violations result in suspension.
4. Buyer safety
- Keep all communication and payments within Find Your Parrot.
- Request live video chats to confirm the parrot matches the listing.
- Arrange meetups in safe, neutral locations or use approved transporters.
5. Reporting & enforcement
We investigate every report of fraud, misrepresentation, or welfare violations. Confirmed issues may be referred to local authorities or the USDA. Repeat offenders are permanently banned.
